Star Wars Episode VII: Greatness After All?

I, as many others, reacted with getting a very bad taste in my mouth when I first heard “Disney doing Star Wars”, but as more news comes out, I find this to be better and better as an idea the more time passes.

It’s probably best, before I get more flack just for the title of this article, I’ll just leave a list of why Episode VII will be amazing:

  • MARK HAMILL, HARRISON FORD BOTH INTERESTED! You read that right, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo themselves are interested in returning to the galaxy far far away. While their both a bit aged to be lead roles, the story in Episode VII will be set way after Episode VI, so I predict a cameo or maybe even a few scenes of Elder Han and Elder Luke.
  • GEORGE LUCAS NOT DIRECTING! I think this speaks for itself why it’s a great. No “Mesa called Jar-Jar Binks”, which is amazing. Also no forced and contrived love subplot.
  • THE WRITING! Episode VII (and assumedly VIII and IX) will be written by Michael Arndt, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter for Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3.
  • BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! The special effects and the fast-paced epic battles of the Prequel Trilogy mixed with with the amazing storytelling and the emotion of the Original Trilogy is very likely to occur, which is nothing less than amazing.

In Conclusion:

While we may not have been wrong to assume at first that this was a bad idea, perhaps George Lucas’ final motion, stepping down, was his best act yet.

3 years from now we will finally know just how great, or terrible, will be the long awaited Star Wars: Episode VII.
